Small Group Personal Training

Small Group Personal Training (SGPT) crosses the bridge between 1-2-1 and traditional group exercise. This is because you get all the benefits of working with a highly qualified personal trainer – guided practice, professional advice, and bespoke workout plans. At the same time sharing the experience with others, raising accountability and engaging camaraderie more familiar in the group class setting.

It is important to note that SGPT differs from traditional group classes (such as Zumba, pilates or circuit training ), as it’s much more personalised.

One important distinction is that with SGPT, you won’t necessarily be doing precisely the same exercise as the others in your group. Your PT will have adjusted your program to fit better what you’re aiming for and what you ultimately want to achieve. Thus FitFunActive SGPT offers benefits beyond your average  fitness class, personalised based on individual needs. Each individual will have a phone consultation to outline training needs and specific fitness goals.

How much will it cost?

Small-Group PT is at a session rate of £40. A block of 10 sessions is £350. Time slots are on a first-come, first-served basis. You can book a place via the website, subject to availability. Alternatively, you can cement your place in blocks of 10. Advance notice of at least 24 hours is required ahead of any absence. So that particular day/slot can be filled.

Strong Runners Strength Train.
It’s the strength work behind the scenes that keeps you moving well and injury-free.

Here are five powerful additions to any runner’s weekly plan:

1️⃣ Reverse Nordic Curl – stretches the quads whilst strengthening
2️⃣ Weighted Calf Raise (Split Stance) – builds ankle strength where runners need it most
3️⃣ Single-Leg RDL (Wall-Supported) – trains the posterior chain through full range
4️⃣ Barbell Hip Thrust (Bosu Hack) – glutes, hammies, and innovation in one move
5️⃣ Foam Rolling – recovery work

Baffling??

Many still speak the language of “go hard or go home.” More intensity. More effort. More pressure. Meanwhile, the reality is that a large proportion of the public isn’t even reaching the minimum recommended levels of activity. Many arrive with worries, injuries, low confidence, or simply a long break from movement.
Do people need punishment?
Or steady support?
How about simple encouragement?
And an environment where small steps are enough to begin. When people feel supported rather than judged, something interesting happens.
They come back.
They build confidence.
And the mystery disappears.

Transformations.
Overhauls.
Big changes.
But most of the time, focusing on the end result makes the journey feel heavier than it needs to be.
Real progress usually comes from something much simpler: the next step.
When the next step becomes the focus, momentum builds.
Confidence grows.
And the bigger change eventually takes care of itself.

Run Without Feeling Wrecked

Preparing your body for the impact, effort, and rhythm that come with every stride.

In Part 2 of Top Moves for Runners, we’ve focused on the kind of strength work that supports running at every level:

✅ Stronger calves = smoother push-off and better propulsion
✅ Hip flexor control = sharper stride mechanics
✅ Explosive strength = more spring with less effort
✅ Plyometric drills = improved rhythm and timing
✅ Sled work = serious power output

This is the work that makes running feel lighter, stronger, and more efficient so every step feels a little easier.

Work That Makes Running Feel Easier

If you want to stay injury-resilient and keep improving over the long run (literally), the work you do around your running matters just as much as the miles.
These five movements target what runners often overlook. the muscles that absorb force,
the areas that tighten up and the stabilisers that keep each stride controlled.

To feel strong and steady
To support bones.
To improve balance.
And to move in a way that supports mental health not drains it.

But just as important is knowing you`re looked after.
Training in a space where you feel supported, encouraged, and part of a community.

That’s where confidence grows.
That’s where motivation builds.
And that’s where exercise becomes something you want to keep coming back to.

Stronger. Steadier. Supported.

This Thursday Marks Week One.

We warm up properly.
We include simple strength work.
We build movement patterns that make the running feel more comfortable not more punishing.
There’s intention behind it.
There’s exercise psychology woven in.
Progressions are gradual.
Wins are structured.
Effort feels achievable.
And then there’s the part that makes the biggest impact, the network.
When you move with others, you show up more often.
When someone notices you’re missing, you come back.
When encouragement is normal, effort feels lighter.
That’s why people complete the 10 weeks.
And modestly speaking good coaching matters.
Clear cues. Safe practice. A watchful eye.
Just enough challenge. Just enough reassurance.
This Thursday, we begin again.

Lower the bar when needed.
Put it in the diary not just in their head.
Accept imperfect sessions.
See themselves as someone who moves.
Restart quickly, without drama.
That’s what our most consistent clients do.
They don’t necessarily have fewer obstacles they do tend to respond differently.

Spring 2026 getting closer and we’re now officially stepping into Phase Two of our Brecon Beacons preparation.
The foundations are in place.
Consistency has been strong.
Longer walks are happening.
Recovery is solid.
Now we build.
Phase Two is where development starts to layer up. We continue with steady aerobic work, but begin increasing duration with purpose. Strength training becomes more intentional protecting joints, building muscular endurance, and preparing the body for sustained climbs.

The sprained ankle was unfortunate.
But the recovery?
Long before the injury happened, we were already building the foundations.
Here’s what we were doing before the sprain:
• Balance under load (single-leg work on unstable surfaces)
• Controlled Achilles loading (heels-up sled pushes)
• Tibialis strengthening (natural shock absorption)
• Bent-knee calf work lower leg strength
• Single-leg strength to remove compensation patterns
• Big toe control because stability starts from the ground up
• Skipping and reactive work for bone density and elastic strength
So when the ankle rolled…
It wasn’t fragile.
It had strength.
It had control.
It had tissue capacity.
That’s why the comeback was quicker.
