Small Group Personal Training

Small Group Personal Training (SGPT) crosses the bridge between 1-2-1 and traditional group exercise. This is because you get all the benefits of working with a highly qualified personal trainer – guided practice, professional advice, and bespoke workout plans. At the same time sharing the experience with others, raising accountability and engaging camaraderie more familiar in the group class setting.

It is important to note that SGPT differs from traditional group classes (such as Zumba, pilates or circuit training ), as it’s much more personalised.

One important distinction is that with SGPT, you won’t necessarily be doing precisely the same exercise as the others in your group. Your PT will have adjusted your program to fit better what you’re aiming for and what you ultimately want to achieve. Thus FitFunActive SGPT offers benefits beyond your average  fitness class, personalised based on individual needs. Each individual will have a phone consultation to outline training needs and specific fitness goals.

How much will it cost?

Small-Group PT is at a session rate of £40. A block of 10 sessions is £350. Time slots are on a first-come, first-served basis. You can book a place via the website, subject to availability. Alternatively, you can cement your place in blocks of 10. Advance notice of at least 24 hours is required ahead of any absence. So that particular day/slot can be filled.

This one thing deserves more attention!
More understanding.
More credit.
That thing is consistency! We know it’s not easy to show up again and again especially when life is busy, loud, and unpredictable. There are real barriers to getting started, and even more to keep going. So if you’re doing something consistently in any form that matters so much more than a six week transformation. Credit to you! You’re doing better than you probably think.

There’s a psychological side to exercise that often gets overlooked.
How something feels to start. Whether it feels accessible. Whether it feels like something you can actually keep up. For many people,
intimidation is the first barrier. Access the second.
Confidence? That usually comes later and for many takes a long time [on average two years according to the *transtheoretical model for behaviour change] . The `Go hard or go home` rhetoric is reckless because it doesn’t speak to the vast majority. Instead start small, build slowly and if eventually, over what for MOST will be a long time, you go hard... maybe, then great.

Proud of every single one of this amazing Group off `non-runners`

When people join our CouchTo5K, they often expect a workout plan, a few runs, maybe a boost in fitness. But what they discover goes far beyond the finish line:
A Sense of Belonging to Something Bigger
Confidence That Stays
The Spark to Keep Going
A Story You’re Proud to Tell
about the day you started, the journey you took, and the way it changed you in more ways than one.

10 weeks. Final Group Session.
And tonight, it showed.
Tears, joy, hugs, conversations…
people connecting, people moving, people realising what they’ve done.
All under a bit of sunshine.
Moments like that are hard to beat.

💡 The Power of a Support Network 💡

It`s week 10 of our current course

Drawing on James Clear’s Atomic Habits, here are four key principles that have helped those changes stick:
1️⃣ We started small. Tiny habits compound over time.
2️⃣ We focused on systems, not goals. Goals set direction; systems create progress. Ours was simple. Same time, same place and a little `progressive overload` each week.
3️⃣ We stacked habits. Linking new habits to something memebrs were already doing. This built momentum effortlessly.
4️⃣ We made it `easy`. The fewer obstacles the more likely we’ll keep going.

Almost Missed The Bus.

Today a client reminded us about NEAT exercise Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis.
In simple terms, it’s all the movement we do outside of structured exercise.
Walking.
Moving.
Getting involved.
Playing.
It all helps burn more energy across the day,
keeps our body moving regularly,
supports our joints and mobility,
and reduces long periods of sitting still.
More than that, it brings back something we often lose daily, frequent play. Moving because we can.
Joining in because it’s there. Staying active without needing a plan. This is what supports longevity 🙏. Careful 😬 regular movement, little and often (as best we can) day after day (if we can).

Small Group Personal Training… but tailored.
We don`t run fixed 6-week or 8-week blocks.
Every time someone walks in, we take into account where they’re at, what they did last session,
and what they’re ready for today.
That’s how six people can be in the same session,
but each one is working on something specific to them.
Timetable
*Mornings
Monday to Friday: 7am & 8am
*Lunchtime
Tuesday & Thursday: 12pm
*Evenings
Monday to Thursday: 7pm
Tuesday & Thursday: 6pm

A tailored approach, shared space.

Thinking differently about back care:

Half-Kneeling Posture: opens the hips and activates deep muscles that connects your spine to your legs.

Anti-Rotational Work: teaches your body to stay solid when life twists and turns.

Loaded Carries: build real-world strength and train your back to brace under load stability in motion.

Bird Dog: a simple starting point for control, coordination, and spinal stability.

Seal Row: ties it all together glutes, hamstrings, upper and lower back working as one.

📌 Save this for your next back or core day
Move better. Feel stronger. Stay pain-free.

The 4th Is A Real Favourite

These exercises link everything together. Hips, spine, shoulders, and balance so the body stays strong when things aren’t perfectly lined up. Holding steady. Resisting movement. Staying controlled when one side is doing more than the other.
This kind of work builds the foundations that support everything else you do lifting, walking, running, and simply moving through life with confidence.

Helping People Begin…
That first step is often the hardest.
Ironically not because of the exercise,
but because of everything around it.
Once that’s taken, everything else starts to build.

What felt impossible at the start…
is now becoming normal!

It’s incredible what can happen in just a couple of months.
From the couch…
to one-minute running intervals…
to building it up to 30 minutes jogging nonstop.
Just two weeks to go…
5K is almost there.

They`re Not Lazy. Just Not Ready. 🧠⏳

We often assume people lack motivation when in truth, they`re just not ready.

According to the Stages of Readiness for Change, there are five phases:
Pre-contemplation, Contemplation, Preparation, Action, and Maintenance.

Each stage needs its own time, and its own process for change.

This is true for exercise… but it’s also true for any behavioural change in general.
You can’t force change. But you can create the right environment for it to happen.
